Blog 4

Welcome to my blog entry number 4, how are you today? I feel so excited with each of the topics we have been learning during this week, we have learned how to quote our services, how to set goals for our planning lessons and achieve them, and many other things that I hope will catch your attention as much as mine.

The first activity we did at the beginning of the class was to help by being part of a sample of how to perform a sight translation for a research that some of our translation classmates are doing in order to get their degree.

The second activity was to listen to a presentation prepared by our colleague Regina who gave us information about where we can apply for a job, if we are freelancers what quotas we can set and how to get new clients.

These are some job options for interpreters:

Setting objectives helps us to be sure that students have understood the explanation of the topic.

But how do we achieve this objective? by doing simple but effective activities.

For example in this picture teacher Orlando was showing us how we can explain vocabulary using practical tools like toys, in this case using a clock  to teach the time, the clock has a recording that says: point to 7:45 - seven forty-five and if you put the clock hands in the right place it says correct! And if not try again!

Also play the hot potato game, in this case with a plastic sword and whoever gets the sword had to answer some questions related to the topic.

Thank you  for your attention and for reading my blog every week, remember the key to lesson planning... “Simple yet effective”
